Job summary

The Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) in Helena is seeking an Epidemiologist 2 to oversee surveillance systems, ensure data quality, and provide analytical support for infectious disease prevention. You will manage partner onboarding, data reporting, and system maintenance to strengthen early detection.

The role requires a master’s degree in a related field and at least three years of epidemiology experience, with SAS or R proficiency and data visualization skills

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in epidemiology, statistics, informatics, data science, or a closely related field.
• Three years of job-related experience in epidemiology.
• Proficiency in SAS or R for data analysis.
• Ability to manipulate, clean, and analyze large datasets.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee operation, quality, and performance of two core public health surveillance systems.
• Onboard partners, maintain systems, and manage data quality.
• Conduct surveillance analyses and prepare actionable reports for infectious disease threats.
• Provide epidemiologic stewardship of wastewater and syndromic surveillance programs.
