Job summary

Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) in Helena is seeking an Epidemiologist 2 to oversee two core surveillance systems, ensuring timely, accurate data to support prevention and control activities.

The role provides epidemiologic stewardship of wastewater and syndromic surveillance, handling partner onboarding, data quality, analysis, and reporting for infectious diseases and other threats in Montana.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in epidemiology, statistics, informatics, data science, or closely related field.
• Three years of job-related experience in epidemiology.
• Experience in managing electronic data exchange preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee two core public health surveillance systems for data quality and performance.
• Provide epidemiologic stewardship of wastewater and syndromic surveillance programs.
• Onboard partners, maintain systems, ensure timely data reporting.
• Prepare technical reports and grants; communicate findings to diverse audiences.
• Mentor staff and contribute to program development.
