Job summary

The Boston Public Health Commission's Population Health and Research Office (PHAR) seeks a skilled epidemiologist/data analyst to advance surveillance on health equity and social determinants of health in Boston. You will design analyses, manage diverse datasets, and produce briefs, dashboards, and dissemination materials for diverse audiences.

Required Master’s in public health or equivalent, strong SAS/R/Epi Info skills, and excellent communication.

Qualifications

• Master’s in public health or related field; other plus experience.
• Experience designing and managing health analyses.
• Knowledge of population health surveillance methods and analytics.
• Understanding of epidemiology concepts and quantitative methods.
• Proficiency in SAS, SPSS, Stata, R and/or Epi Info.
• Experience with R/Shiny or mapping software is a plus.
• Excellent oral and written communication; strong organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and conduct population health surveillance focusing on health equity.
• Analyze surveillance data and prepare reports and dashboards.
• Provide analytic mentoring to bureau staff.
• Communicate epidemiologic information to professional and lay audiences.
• Support grant reports and manuscript preparation.
