Job summary

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain enhancements to the CHANT data collection project.
  • Build and maintain REDCap data collection modules for program needs.
  • Assist with CHANT integration of a new data system.
  • Prepare routine reports on participation and outcomes.
  • Implement SAS code and REDCap project changes as needed.
  • Provide technical assistance on REDCap, SOPs, and guidance.
  • Pull, clean, and submit recurring CHANT reports weekly, monthly, and quarterly.
  • Create data outputs and visualizations for CHANT surveillance.
  • Respond quickly to data inquiries from regional teams and partners.
  • Work remotely and visit Nashville monthly or as needed.
  • Fulfill ad-hoc data and analysis requests.
  • Translate programmatic requirements into data collection solutions.

Job description

Job Overview
  • Client Department of Health, Division of Family Health and Wellness, is hiring a Contract Epidemiologist 1 for the Children and Youth with Special Health Care Needs section in Nashville, TN.
  • Responsible for professional scientific and epidemiological assessments for the Community Health Access and Navigation in Tennessee (CHANT) Initiative.
  • Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-4:30 PM CST, 37.5 hours/week.
  • Location: Hybrid; requires travel to Nashville. Applicants must be current Tennessee residents. Travel to Nashville is not reimbursable.
  • Education: Master's degree in Epidemiology, Public Health Biostatistics, Statistics, or Health Information.
  • Alternative: Master's degree in Health Science, Biomedical Science, or Environmental Science with 2 years of relevant experience.
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain enhancements to the CHANT data collection project.
  • Build and maintain REDCap data collection modules to support program requirements, evaluation, and oversight.
  • Assist with CHANT integration of a new data system.
  • Prepare routine reports on program participation and outcomes for internal and external partners.
  • Implement SAS code and REDCap project changes as monitoring guidance and processes evolve.
  • Provide technical assistance to non-technical staff on REDCap systems, SOPs, and task guidance.
  • Write independent code and evaluate outputs for accuracy.
  • Pull, clean, and submit recurring CHANT reports weekly, monthly, and quarterly.
  • Work with the MCH Programs Team to support MCH surveillance projects and create data outputs and visualizations for CHANT data.
  • Respond quickly to data inquiries from regional teams, leadership, stakeholders, and public health partners.
  • Work remotely and come into the Nashville office monthly or as needed.
  • Fulfill ad-hoc data and analysis requests.
  • Translate programmatic requirements into appropriate data collection solutions.
Other Requirements
  • Proficient in managing electronic data and navigating complex databases.
  • Demonstrated customer service and teamwork experience.
  • Proficient in statistical programming software, particularly SAS.
  • Public health and health data experience, such as vital records or health survey data, preferred.
  • Experience with application system deployment or implementation preferred.
  • Strong foundation in system design, analysis, and evaluation.
