Overview

With direction and support from the Epic Program Manager, the Epic Project Manager will manage Epic-related projects and initiatives supporting the ongoing success and maintenance of the electronic health record system and integrated third-party vendors. Projects include Epic application and third-party vendor implementations, optimizations as well as build and training efforts supporting new Central Health system service lines and locations.

The Epic Project Manager will work closely with the Epic Application Analyst Team, Epic Training Team, Business Intelligence Teams and system-wide Project Management Offices, as well as operational and clinical leaders, to implement, monitor, and improve Epic-related initiatives.

As a member of the Epic Project Management Office, core expectations will include adhering to and optimizing standardized approaches to project management, including but not limited to, developing and maintaining project schedules, controlling scope, monitoring budget, identifying and mitigating risks, and serving as a strategic thinking partner within the project team.

The Epic Project Manager will also coordinate ongoing Epic workgroups, which are responsible for Epic change requests and optimizations, new feature review and prioritization during upgrades, and issue mitigation. Epic Project Managers may be involved in additional project/programmatic efforts as needed. These responsibilities should be completed in a manner consistent with Central Health's mission.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  • Manage and coordinate projects to include establishing and implementing work plans, leading activities of various workgroups, and managing day-to-day operational aspects of a project.
  • Work with project team members or subject matter experts to define project scope, goals, resource requirements, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Continually monitor and report project progress to stakeholders, identifying risk points, and proposing solutions or escalating to leadership as needed.
  • Create, maintain, and update key project documentation in a timely manner, including risk registers, change logs, and meeting notes.
  • Maintain strong organization across projects and escalating sudden project changes including changes to timeline, resources, or scope, in a timely manner.
  • Develop and maintain a working knowledge of existing operations and workstreams to maximize coordination and efficiency across Epic-related projects.
  • Participate in strategic or operational planning exercises for the Central Health system as needed.
  • Collaborate with multiple functional areas across the organization to gather operational requirements, improve processes, and influence operations as they pertain to assigned projects.
  • Engage with operations to prepare for adoption of Epic optimizations and enhancements.
  • Manage the day-to-day work of the Epic workgroups including reviewing change requests, vetting of new feature releases, and guiding evaluation of operational considerations and readiness.
  • Serve as resource person/liaison between Epic team members, system-wide PMOs, and clinical/operational team members.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

MINIMUM EDUCATION:Bachelors Degree required

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • 3 years of Epic and/or IT project management with a bachelor's degree OR
  • 1 of Epic and/or IT project management with a master's degree
