Valley Health Systems, Inc. is seeking a Medical Records Specialist to scan, index, and review patient records in the Epic EHR system. You will help ensure accuracy, confidentiality, and accessibility of health information for clinical staff and audits.

This role requires attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to travel between clinic sites as needed. Monday through Friday in-office hours with potential collaboration across multiple clinic locations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience with Epic (Media Manager, Chart Review, In Basket) preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy in high-volume environments.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to travel between clinic sites if needed.
• Knowledge of HIPAA and confidentiality best practices.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, scan, and convert incoming paper medical records into electronic format.
• Accurately index documents in Epic with correct document types and patient identifiers.
• Conduct quality control reviews of scanned documents for legibility and completeness.
• Communicate with clinical staff to resolve missing or unclear documentation.
• Maintain confidentiality of PHI in compliance with HIPAA.
• Monitor scanning queues and complete assignments within timelines.
• Participate in audits to validate record accuracy and completeness.
• Provide general HIM support, including chart audits and release of information assistance.
• Maintain compliance with company policies and procedures.
