Job summary

Cape Fear Valley Health System in Fayetteville, NC seeks an experienced Epic Clinical Informatics Specialist. You will coordinate implementation, optimization, and ongoing use of clinical information systems across the health system, acting as a liaison between clinicians and IT to improve patient care and workflows.

The ideal candidate has nursing or allied health background, RN licensure in NC, and Epic certification or willingness to obtain within 6 months, with 2 years clinical experience

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or related clinical field.
• Current North Carolina RN licensure required.
• Epic Clinical Informatics certification required or must obtain within 6 months of hire.
• 2 years of clinical experience in a healthcare setting.
• 1 year of experience with clinical information systems (preferably Epic).
• 1 year of experience supporting system implementation, optimization, and/or training for clinical teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a deep understanding of clinical applications and how they support patient care
• Collaborate with clinical leaders to analyze workflows
• Document clinical workflows, business requirements, analyze baseline data and derive actionable insights to help inform workflow build, and measure baseline data
• Recommend and participate in the evaluation of new technology, techniques, and workflow processes to support clinical users
• Lead meetings and serve on workgroups or committees to design workflows, identify optimizations and help develop clinical decision support tools in alignment with evidence-based practice, patient safety, and optimal user experience
• Serve as a liaison between clinical staff, IT, and vendors to translate clinical needs into system design and functionality
• Assist in the development of training materials, including user guides, tip sheets, and workflow scenarios, in collaboration with application and training teams and subject matter experts
• Coach and support clinical users during go-lives, system changes, or when additional support is needed
• Deliver training for clinical system users across all phases of the application lifecycle, including onboarding, system upgrades, and optimization initiatives
• Identify and elevate system issues and collaborate on resolution with application teams and operational stakeholders
• Monitor the effectiveness of clinical systems and recommend continuous improvement strategies
• Other duties as assigned
