We are seeking an experienced and Epic Certified Data Management Product Manager who will be responsible for defining, prioritizing, and delivering data management solutions that support Epic EHR operations, reporting, analytics, data integrity, and organizational decision‑making. This role serves as a strategic liaison between clinical, operational, technical, reporting, and informatics stakeholders to translate business needs into scalable product requirements, workflows, and data solutions. The Product Manager helps ensure that Epic-related data assets, integrations, reporting tools, and analytics capabilities are accurate, secure, reliable, and aligned with organizational priorities.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities
- Define and manage the product vision, roadmap, priorities, and success measures for Epic data management, reporting, analytics, and related data solutions.
- Partner with clinical, revenue cycle, operational, informatics, reporting, interface, and technical teams to gather requirements, identify gaps, and translate needs into actionable product specifications.
- Lead the prioritization and refinement of product backlogs related to Epic data models, reporting workflows, dashboards, extracts, integrations, data governance, and analytics initiatives.
- Support the design, configuration, testing, validation, implementation, and optimization of Epic data management solutions in collaboration with application, reporting, and technical teams.
- Promote data integrity by helping establish standards, documentation, validation processes, and issue resolution workflows for Epic-related data assets.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure reports, dashboards, and data products provide accurate, timely, and meaningful information for operational and strategic decision‑making.
- Manage medium to large‑scale projects by defining scope, deliverables, timelines, dependencies, risks, and communication plans.
- Monitor product performance, user adoption, reporting accuracy, data quality trends, and stakeholder feedback to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Ensure data management solutions comply with organizational policies, IT governance standards, privacy requirements, security expectations, and applicable healthcare regulations, including HIPAA.
- Coordinate communication across business, clinical, and technical stakeholders to support alignment, issue resolution, change management, and successful implementation.
- Maintain clear documentation of requirements, workflows, data definitions, decisions, testing outcomes, and product updates.
- Stay informed of Epic enhancements, healthcare data management trends, interoperability standards, reporting tools, and emerging technologies to support product strategy and innovation.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Healthcare Informatics, Health Information Management, Data Analytics, Healthcare Administration, or a related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of five years of experience in healthcare IT, Epic systems, data management, reporting, analytics, product management, or clinical informatics.
- Experience working with Epic EHR applications, Epic data models, reporting workflows, analytics tools, integrations, or data governance processes strongly preferred.
- Epic certification, proficiency, or experience in Cogito, Clarity, Caboodle, Reporting Workbench, Ambulatory, ASAP, MyChart, Order Transmittal, or related Epic applications preferred.
- Experience managing projects, product backlogs, stakeholder requirements, testing efforts, implementation activities, and cross‑functional deliverables.
- Experience in a healthcare provider, hospital, or health system environment preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong understanding of healthcare operations, Epic EHR workflows, data management principles, reporting needs, and analytics use cases.
- Ability to translate complex business, clinical, and technical requirements into clear product requirements and implementation plans.
- Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, prioritization, and decision‑making skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with executive, clinical, operational, technical, and vendor stakeholders.
- Ability to manage competing priorities, deadlines, risks, and dependencies in a matrixed environment.
- Working knowledge of SQL, data visualization tools, reporting platforms, interoperability concepts, HL7, FHIR, APIs, or healthcare data exchange standards preferred.
- Strong documentation skills and attention to detail, particularly related to requirements, workflows, testing, data definitions, and governance processes.
- Ability to promote collaboration, accountability, adoption, and continuous improvement across cross‑functional teams.
- Understanding of privacy, security, compliance, and regulatory considerations related to healthcare data.
- AI literacy and awareness of emerging healthcare technology trends preferred.
