Job summary

Carter Machinery Co. Inc. offers an Electric Power Generation (EPG) Rental Apprentice Technician role in Elkridge, VA. The program trains you to troubleshoot, diagnose, inspect, maintain, and repair engines and electrical systems on generators and transfer switches through a 15‑month curriculum.

Starting pay ranges from $22.00 to $28.00 per hour with competitive benefits and ongoing in-house training. This apprenticeship leads to a Virginia accreditation as a Construction Equipment Technician.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Completion of vocational program in Electrical or Mechanical related course.
• Post-secondary diesel engine or related program or two years mechanical job experience preferred.
• Military equipment experience is a plus.
• Familiarity with CAT electronic tools is preferred, but training will be provided.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and diagnose engines and electrical systems on generators and ATS.
• Complete service reports and provide details for work orders.
• Prepare documentation including work orders, parts lists and time cards.
• Read and understand operating manuals and follow safety procedures.
• Promote a positive customer experience and uphold core values.
