Role Overview

The Project Engineer is accountable for technical coordination and support of a project, including ensuring that project cost, schedule and scope control principles and analysis are applied to assist the Project Manager in ensuring successful execution of project deliverables in accordance with Customer requirements.

Act as the primary technical point of contact for the customer and as liaison between the Project Manager and the project technical team members. Perform work in accordance with the RCM Quality Assurance Program while seeking improvements to work processes and design approaches. Coordinate development of innovative technical solutions to complex problems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop project objectives by reviewing project proposals, RFPs and plans, conferring with management
  • Oversee project teams’ understanding of the scope of work, specifications, and deliverables on assigned projects
  • Work with Engineering Manager or Engineering Supervisor to assure the Project Team members have the skills and experience to support the project objectives
  • Develop project execution plans, determine project responsibilities by identifying project phases and elements; assign personnel to phases and elements; oversee sub‑contractors
  • Provide project direction, oversight and leadership to ensure the execution of the plan provides a quality product meeting the Client’s requirements in an efficient manner
  • With support of project discipline engineers, determine project requirements and criteria by studying design requirements, customer requirements, and performance standards.
  • Determine project schedule by studying project plan and specifications, calculating time requirements, sequencing project elements
  • Maintain project schedule by monitoring project progress, coordinating activities, resolving problems
  • Control project plan by reviewing and controlling changes to the design, specifications and schedule, and recommending courses of action to mitigate impact
  • Evaluate and approve design changes, specifications, and drawing releases
  • Control project costs by approving expenditures, administering contractor contracts. Prepare project status reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends, recommending actions
  • Assure compliance with federal and state regulations
Qualifications/Education
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant industry experience in project engineering or equivalent, and demonstrated aptitude for performing work at a Project Engineer level
  • B.S. Degree in Engineering or scientific field from accredited college or university, or equivalent to standards in the US and or Canada
  • US: Registered Professional Engineer is a plus. Maintains multiple state registration as necessary to meet position requirements.
  • PMP certification is a plus
  • Canada: Professional Engineer License required
