Job summary

Aecon is seeking a Project Manager to lead utility-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects in an EPC framework. The role demands safe, high-quality delivery from award through commissioning, energization, and closeout while meeting schedule and budget objectives.

Location options include Port Huron, MI (preferred); Detroit, MI or Milwaukee, WI. Travel to Milwaukee project site will be required.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
• 7–10 years of project management experience in EPC construction, power generation, or renewable energy.
• PMP or P.Eng designation considered assets; experience with BESS or utility-scale projects preferred.
• Knowledge of electrical systems, high-voltage infrastructure, and grid interconnection requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead project planning and execution across engineering, procurement, and construction activities.
• Manage project scope, schedule, milestones, and overall performance with strong controls.
• Monitor and manage project finances, budgeting, forecasting, cost control, cash flow, and change management.
• Identify, assess, mitigate, and manage project risks, issues, and opportunities; escalate as needed.
• Lead multidisciplinary project teams and coordinate across engineering, procurement, construction, and field resources.
• Lead project meetings, ensure accurate reporting, and maintain clear client/stakeholder communications.
• Administer project contracts and support change orders, disputes, and claims management.
• Ensure adherence to contractual obligations, specifications, regulatory requirements, and environmental standards.
• Promote safety and quality throughout all phases of delivery.
• Oversee commissioning, energization, and turnover to the client.
