Responsibilities
- Demonstrate familiarity with the basics of radiation and radiation safety.
- Position the X‑ray camera for fluoroscopy/angiography.
- Pan the table to accurately visualize requested or appropriate views.
- Perform daily equipment checks to ensure proper function.
- Demonstrate sterile technique for handling sterile instruments and supplies.
- Proficiently enter data on the EP hemodynamic monitoring system.
- Assist with monitoring patient condition throughout procedure, including rhythm, vital signs, response to interventions, and arterial lines.
- Document required procedure steps, supplies used, and patient condition in the medical record throughout the case.
- Communicate with the circulating nurse regarding supplies used for the patient charge ticket and verify accuracy.
- Monitor patients in holding area as assigned.
- Proficiently remove sheaths and hold pressure to achieve hemostasis.
- Demonstrate proficiency with equipment in the EP lab.
Qualifications
Experience:
- Two years experience in an electrophysiology or cardiac catheterization laboratory performing both diagnostic and interventional procedures – preferred.
Education:
- Graduate of a cardiovascular technologist program or radiologic technology program.
Licenses and Certifications:
- Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) – preferred.
- Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) or Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) or Radiologic Technologist certified through Texas Medical Board and registered with ARRT – required upon hire.
- Certified Surgical Technologist – required.
- BLS certification as per St. David’s Healthcare policy.
- ACLS certification as per St. David’s Healthcare policy.
