About the Job:

The Housekeeper is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment in assigned areas. They advise supervisors on environmental equipment needs and ensure proper disposal of infectious waste and confidential materials.

Roles and Responsibilities:

1. Perform cleaning and custodial tasks to maintain sanitation of the facility, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and bathroom cleaning.
2. Clean various areas such as rooms, baths, laboratories, offices, and halls using appropriate equipment.
3. Wash bed frames, change mattresses, and remake beds after client discharge when applicable.
4. Keep utility and storage rooms organized.
5. Operate washers and dryers to launder linens as directed.
6. Follow infection control standards, transport soiled linens, and distribute laundered items.
7. Clean floors with buffers, scrubbers, and wax as needed, ensuring safety from slips and falls.
8. Clean rugs, carpets, furniture, and windows; dust surfaces.
9. Dispose of waste properly and maintain cleanliness of wastebaskets and disposal areas.
10. Disinfect rooms and equipment using appropriate germicides.
11. Monitor inventory of cleaning supplies and linens daily.
12. Store equipment and supplies properly after each shift.
13. Follow safety guidelines, including universal precautions and MSDS instructions.
14. Prepare rooms for meetings and facility functions as needed.
15. Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent (preferred), prior housekeeping experience (preferred), basic English skills, and certifications such as CPR and first aid (may be required).
