About the Job:

The Housekeeper is responsible for maintaining a clean and healthy client care environment by ensuring assigned areas are clean, safe, sanitary, and orderly. They advise the supervisor on environmental services equipment needs and repairs, and ensure that infectious waste and confidential disposal contractors perform as scheduled.

Roles and Responsibilities:

1. Perform cleaning and custodial tasks to uphold sanitation and cleanliness of the facility, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, polishing fixtures, and cleaning bathrooms daily.
2. Clean facility rooms, baths, laboratories, offices, and halls using buffers, scrubbers, sweepers, and carpet cleaning equipment as needed.
3. Wash bed frames, brush mattresses, and remake beds after client discharge when applicable.
4. Maintain utility and storage rooms in neat and orderly conditions.
5. Operate commercial washers and dryers to launder soiled linens as directed.
6. Transport soiled linen to storage and distribute laundered items, adhering to infection control standards.
7. Clean floors with sweeping, scrubbing, waxing, and polishing, paying attention to slip and fall risks.
8. Clean rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and draperies; dust furniture and equipment.
9. Wash walls, ceilings, woodwork, windows, door panels, and sills.
10. Empty wastebaskets, transport trash to disposal area.
11. Disinfect rooms, furniture, fixtures, equipment, and supplies using appropriate germicides.
12. Check inventory of cleaning supplies and linen supplies daily, maintaining adequate stock.
13. Clean and store equipment and supplies after each shift.
14. Practice universal precautions and environmental safety guidelines, including MSDS instructions.
15. Prepare rooms for meetings and arrange decorations and furniture for facility functions.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous housekeeping experience in a healthcare or clinical environment preferred.
• Basic reading, writing, speaking skills in English to understand and give instructions.
• CPR and de-escalation certification may be required (training provided upon hire).
• First aid certification may be required depending on state or facility.
