Job summary

Nebraska Methodist Health System is seeking an experienced Billing Clerk in Omaha to support the finance team with payments processing and posting. You will code and reconcile EOBs, manage EFTs, and handle paper checks with timely accuracy in a fast-paced setting.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED (bookkeeping classes preferred) and at least one year of data entry or cash handling experience. Strong computer and communication skills are essential as you will work across multiple

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• One year data entry, balancing, or related experience required.
• Prior cash handling experience, balancing, or reconciling strongly preferred.
• Microsoft program experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manual payment processing for insurance and patient pays. Accurately code and prepare all EOBs for manual posting including “0” pays.
• Scanning coversheet process. Correct Header to match Batch ID utilized. Correct Date used to match activity/post date.
• Electronic spreadsheet data maintained. Timely input of data from electronic payment reports. Daily balancing utilizing required columns.
• Correction batches and transfers. Batches with appropriate description within 48 hours. Transfers processed within 48 hours with proper postings.
• Timely management of EFTs within 48 hours. Daily check the EFT spreadsheet for payer entries. Manually post EFT EOBs within 48 hours.
• Timely processing of paper checks for posted 835 files. Process checks within 24 hours. Update spreadsheet with receipt date.
• Maintain work folders. Place processed work in correct boxes and inform staff of contents.
• Research missing EOBs or pending checks. Follow up on missing items and document in pending work communication.
• Timely processing of Unassigned Account entries. Research within 48 hours and follow up on manual posts within 30 days.
• Process referrals and other duties assigned, assist with required testing projects and daily HP24/LockBox reporting.
