Job summary

Awetomaton in Boulder, CO is seeking a Research Engineer to join the TAP Lab at the Boulder Ground Information Facility. You will adapt, train, evaluate, and transition a prototype application that detects and separates closely spaced objects in EO/IR imagery, and you will work with a small team to prepare sensor data and assess algorithm performance.

The role requires a BS in a relevant field with 3–7 years of experience, Python development, NumPy, scikit-image, and PyTorch.

Qualifications

• BS in CS/engineering/physics/math or related field.
• 3+ years in image processing, computer vision, ML or imagery science.
• At least 1 year of professional Python development.
• Experience with EO/IR imagery or similar sensor data.
• Experience with NumPy and at least one ML framework.
• Dataset preparation and algorithm evaluation experience.
• Git proficiency.
• Active SECRET clearance.
• On-site work in Boulder, CO.

Responsibilities

• Adapt, train, evaluate, and transition a prototype application for EO/IR imagery.
• Acquire and prepare representative sensor data and evaluate performance.
• Develop software in Python following best practices.
• Collaborate with a small multidisciplinary team.
• Communicate results to engineers and decision-makers.
