Job summary

The Charles Stark Draper Laboratory, Inc. in Cambridge, MA is seeking an Environmental Test Supervisor to oversee its Environmental Test Facility, calibrations, maintenance, and test cell operations.

You will build and lead a team of technicians, drive continuous process improvement, and ensure on-time delivery of test activities. You will coordinate with programs, manage safety and compliance, and optimize facility utilization while maintaining strong communication with stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Business or relevant field of study.
• Requires 5-7 years of experience with lab/facility operations management or relevant supervisory role.
• Experience operating environmental test cells and their supporting software.
• Decisive leadership and problem-solving under pressure.
• Strong interpersonal & communication skills (verbal & written).
• Organization skills with strong attention to detail.
• Technical/computer skills (Excel, AutoCAD, SolidWorks).

Responsibilities

• Supervise approximately four union technicians and schedule daily work assignments with annual evaluations.
• Maintain Environmental Test Confluence Page including test cells, configurations, manuals, and maintenance schedules.
• Coordinate across programs to maximize Environmental Test Facility efficiency and meet milestones.
• Oversee surveillance including data collection and failure rate analysis for test cells.
• Lead Sparing Plan/Obsolescence tracking, CAPEX, and inventory storage/monitoring.
• Plan Preventative Maintenance with Draper and external vendors.
• Assist in acquisition/upgrades/repair for all test cells, including procurement workflows.
• Lead troubleshooting efforts and develop action plans for test cells.
• Maintain a five-year facilities plan and approve capital equipment installations.
• Collaborate with external vendors for material purchases and overflow coordination.
