Job summary

Draper, a nonprofit research and development organization based in Cambridge, MA, seeks an Environmental Test Supervisor to oversee the Environmental Test Facility and lead a small team of technicians. The role emphasizes planning, execution, and continuous process improvement across test cells.

The Supervisor will coordinate maintenance, calibrations, and audits, while managing cross-program scheduling, data analysis, and capital equipment planning to meet customer milestones.

Qualifications

• 5-7 years of experience in lab or facility operations management or supervisory role.
• Experience operating environmental test cells and their supporting software.
• Decisive leadership and problem-solving under pressure.
• Strong interpersonal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency with Excel, AutoCAD and SolidWorks.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate Environmental Test Facility operations, including scheduling and evaluations.
• Maintain Environmental Test Confluence Page with test cell inventories, manuals, drawings and maintenance schedules.
• Coordinate across programs to maximize facility efficiency while meeting milestones.
• Oversee data collection, failure rate analysis, and spare parts tracking for planning and budgeting.
• Plan preventive maintenance with Draper staff and external vendors.
• Lead troubleshooting efforts and develop action plans for test cells.
• Maintain a five-year facilities plan and coordinate external vendor work as needed.
• Collaborate with vendors for material purchases and overflow work.
• Ensure calibration and lab readiness through planned audits and trainings.
