Job summary

Florence Copper is seeking an Environmental Technician to support the Environmental Department in Florence, Arizona. The role emphasizes sample collection, data interpretation, audits, reporting, and training to ensure permit compliance and environmental policy adherence.

You will collect water, soil, and air samples, calibrate instruments, and assist with regulatory inspections while promoting pollution prevention and proper waste management practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree or five years of equivalent work experience.
• Experience or extended education in chemistry and/or environmental regulations.
• Technical understanding of environmental sampling protocols and analytical methodology.

Responsibilities

• Collect, preserve, and transport samples (water, soil, air) for analyses following sampling techniques.
• Conduct in-field analyses on water samples per established procedures.
• Calibrate, operate, and maintain sampling and lab equipment accurately.
• Maintain programs monitoring water quality, use, and regulatory compliance.
• Conduct periodic facility and operation audits for protective practices.
• Attend regulatory inspections and document findings.
• Assist management with environmental compliance.
• Promote pollution prevention, waste minimization, and recycling.
• Support emergency response involving environmental issues.
• Maintain the environmental department’s filing system.
• Report writing, environmental inspections and general laboratory work as required.
• Measure water levels in monitoring wells daily and weekly network sweep.
• Monitor and maintain water quality sampling equipment in wells.
