Job Description

General Responsibilities:
Perform tests and sampling of environmental materials including air, groundwater, building materials, and noise. Operate field monitoring equipment. Assist with operation and maintenance of remediation systems. May assist with asbestos surveys, abatement projects, and Phase I preliminary site assessments. Transport material samples or documents to the lab for testing and analysis. Tabulate and prepare data for reports. Clean and maintain field monitoring equipment. Adhere to strict safety standards.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities:

• Perform standardized and complex field tests and special inspections as required.
• Calibrate field monitoring equipment such as PID or combustible gas indicators.
• Sample suspect asbestos-containing materials following AHERA guidelines.
• Assist with installation and maintenance of remediation systems.
• Support drill crews in obtaining soil and groundwater samples.
• Monitor air quality during asbestos abatement projects.
• Conduct monitoring well sampling.
• Perform complex field tasks under supervision.
• Follow safety protocols, participate in pre-task planning, and report safety concerns.
• Maintain quality standards on all projects.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 4-6 years of relevant experience or equivalent training.
• Certification in relevant field, such as:

• Asbestos Inspector
• Asbestos Project Monitor
• Lead Inspector
• Mold Technician

• Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.

Preferred Certifications:

Other environmental certifications requiring experience and written exams will be considered if deemed appropriate by the Department Manager.
