We are currently seeking (1) Full-Time EVS Tech!

Job Summary:

The Environmental Technician is responsible for executing the daily duties required to establish and maintain a safe, hygienic, and aesthetically pleasing care environment in the hospital.

Functions and Duties:
  • Observe and follow safety/organizational/departmental procedures and policies at all times.
  • Perform housekeeping functions and established methods.
  • Clean patient rooms, offices, rest rooms, janitor closets, store rooms, exam rooms, delivery rooms, operating rooms, and clinics with the approved cleaning methods.
  • Follow directives from Environmental Services leadership.
  • Report to the department office and receive assignments.
  • Collect necessary equipment and supplies and proceed directly to the work area.
  • High dust and low dust horizontal surfaces.
  • Sanitize and spot clean all horizontal surfaces.
  • Damp wipe and clean all furniture.
  • Perform checkout room cleaning.
  • Spot clean walls, windows, and polish metal surfaces.
  • Vacuum carpets, sweep, and mop in patient rooms and other areas.
  • Spot clean carpet as assigned.
  • Assist in cleaning emergency spills, observed or upon request.
  • Demonstrate the correct use of chemicals and supplies.
  • Replenish supplies.
  • Input bed tracking and other required information into the computer daily or as needed.
  • Learn and apply the principles of regular discharges with a 30-minute turnaround.
  • Learn and apply the principles of terminal cleaning with a 55-minute turnaround.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:

Education

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.

Experience

  • Training in various housekeeping areas such as patient room cleaning, office cleaning, restroom cleaning, etc.
  • One to six months of experience in a healthcare setting.

Certifications, Licenses, and Registrations

  • None.

Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of various hospital cleaning techniques including dusting, wet mopping, sanitizing, vacuuming, restroom cleaning, and trash removal.
  • Ability to apply common sense to carry out detailed but straightforward written or oral instructions; handle problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Physical Demands:
  • Medium work; exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 10 to 25 pounds frequently, or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds consistently to move objects.
  • Required to stand, use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Frequently lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs.
  • Physical demands exceed those for light work.
  • Must understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
  • Must be able to stand for 4 to 8 hours.
  • Must be able to transport heavy linen carts.
  • Must be able to operate all Floor Care Equipment.
  • Must be able to tolerate extreme temperatures.
