Job summary

Qualifications

  • Degree in Earth Sciences, Biology, Engineering, related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Intermediate math skills required – algebra, geometry, and statistical analysis.
  • State wastewater treatment, land application, and/or drinking water operator license preferred, or ability to obtain within 12 months of hire.
  • Effective oral and written communication; interpret and enforce regulatory requirements.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills; team player and adaptable.

Responsibilities

  • Sample plans and improvements for local, state, and federal regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with environmental programs: wastewater, drinking water, hazardous materials, air quality, stormwater.
  • Prepare draft regulatory reports and ensure timely data collection and analysis.
  • Deliver awareness training to Idahoan team members and ensure data quality.

Job description

Job purpose
The Environmental Technician is responsible to support the implementation of Idahoan Foods environmental and sustainability programs, ensuring compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations. You will be responsible for all of the required environmental sampling and monitoring and ensuring that these requirements are met in a timely manner. You will be responsible to ensure that key personnel are trained and engaged in the mission of the EHS Department
Main Responsibilities
  • Responsible for sampling plans and improvements related to local, state, and federal regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with operational and compliance activities, inspections, and reporting associated with environmental programs, including wastewater, drinking water, hazardous materials, hazardous waste, air quality, and stormwater management.
  • Preparation of draft regulatory reports.
  • Ensure the timely collection and analysis of environmental samples.
  • Prepare and deliver awareness training to Idahoan team members.
  • Responsible for all environmental data, ensuring strict quality control measures are implemented to maintain data integrity.
  • Preparation of monthly irrigation schedule for Idahoan land application sites.
  • Participation in and champion company safety programs.
  • Represent Idahoan Foods professionally to external stakeholders.
  • Assist with environmental capital projects to improve the environmental performance and operation across the company.
  • Assist in operational improvements and support sustainability initiatives across the company.
  • Facilitate a culture that respects and understands our environmental.
Qualifications/Required Skills
  • Education and/or Experience: Degree in Earth Sciences, Biology, Engineering, related field, or equivalent experience. Intermediate math skills are required – proficiency in algebra, geometry and statistical analysis.
  • Preferred Certifications: State wastewater treatment, land application, and/or drinking water operator license preferred, or the ability to obtain within 12 months of hire.
  • Language Skills: Must have effective oral and written communication skills, excellent telephone skills, and thorough knowledge of grammar, spelling, and punctuation. Able to interpret and enforce regulatory requirements.
  • Reasoning Ability: This position requires a high degree of self-confidence and maturity to make the decisions required in day-to-day activities and solves problems with minimal direction. Must be detailed and have strong organizational skills. Must be a team player, able to react to change productively, be flexible, and to accept changing assignments and accountabilities. Excellent interpersonal skills are required.
  • Computer Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word (\"templates, styles, review, and compare features\"), Excel (data structure, PivotTables, VLOOKUP, etc.), PowerPoint, and Outlook. Demonstrated ability to organize and maintain digital files in accordance with established standards while ensuring accurate, complete, and accessible records.
Other Details
  • Work Environment: The position is located in a manufacturing or farm environment with moderate noise levels and requires sitting at a desk for extended periods and walking from point to point. Position requires exposure to heat and cold in the summer and winter for environmental sample collection. Travel relevant to facility reviews and professional development is required.
