Job summary

MPS Group, Inc. seeks Environmental Technicians to join our team at the Ford Rouge Complex in Dearborn, MI. You will handle solid and hazardous waste at the plant and support daily environmental operations.

These positions require at least one year of waste management experience, a high school diploma or GED, and the ability to pass background and drug screenings. Training on site will be provided; shift details include B Shift, Tue–Fri, 6:00 p.m.–4:30 a.m.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of one year experience in waste management.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education.
  • Ability to pass a background check.
  • Ability to pass a drug test.

Responsibilities

  • Collect trash, recyclables, hazardous waste, scrap metal, and other waste streams throughout the plant and transport them to disposal containers.
  • Segregate, sort, and package waste streams for off-site shipment per EPA requirements.
  • Load semi-trailers and roll-off boxes for shipment to landfills, recycling centers, and other disposal sites.
  • Perform and document daily equipment inspections prior to use.
  • Clean and maintain the organization of the 90-day Accumulation Area, including sweeping and labeling drums.
  • Assist the supervisor in responding to chemical spill incidents by placing adsorbents and containerizing cleaned-up materials.
  • Assist the Resource Manager with daily supply delivery, waste pickup, and waste organization.
  • Perform inspections of waste storage areas and emergency equipment, taking corrective action to eliminate deficiencies identified during inspections.
  • Inventory and inspect waste spill kits.
  • Document and inform the Resource Manager of any contamination in the plant’s recycling and waste containers.
  • Maintain and complete necessary documentation of waste inventories, inspections, and other required activities.
  • Operate a forklift to load and unload trucks.
  • Operate a burden carrier.
  • Follow all plant-related safety guidelines.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the manager.

MPS Group, Inc., is seeking multiple Environmental Technicians to join our team at the Ford Rouge Complex located in Dearborn, MI. These individuals will be responsible for handling solid and hazardous waste at the plant.

Shift Details

Shift: B Shift

Schedule: Tuesday - Friday 6:00 p.m. - 4:30 a.m.

Responsibilities and Job Duties
  • Collect trash, recyclables, hazardous waste, scrap metal, and other waste streams throughout the plant and transport them to disposal containers or storage rooms.
  • Segregate, sort, and package waste streams for off-site shipment in accordance with Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) requirements.
  • Load semi-trailers and roll-off boxes for shipment to landfills, recycling centers, and other disposal sites.
  • Perform and document daily equipment inspections prior to use.
  • Clean and maintain the organization and compliance of the 90-day Accumulation Area, including sweeping the floor, mopping the floor, and labeling drums.
  • Assist the supervisor in responding to chemical spill incidents by placing adsorbents on liquids, sweeping or vacuuming solids, and containerizing cleaned-up materials for proper disposal.
  • Assist the Resource Manager with daily supply delivery, waste pick-up, and waste organization.
  • Perform inspections of waste storage areas and emergency equipment, taking corrective action to eliminate deficiencies identified during inspections.
  • Inventory and inspect waste spill kits.
  • Document and inform the Resource Manager of any contamination in the plant’s recycling and waste containers.
  • Maintain and complete necessary documentation of waste inventories, inspections, and other required activities.
  • Operate a fork truck to load and unload trucks.
  • Operate a burden carrier.
