MPS Group, Inc. seeks an Environmental Technician for the GM Factory Zero Complex in Detroit, MI. This role handles solid and hazardous waste within the plant, ensuring proper segregation, packaging, and documentation.

Shift: 1st Shift, Mon-Fri, 7:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m. Duties include collecting waste streams, loading transport, inspections, and maintaining the Accumulation Area. Requirements: High School Diploma or GED and at least one year in waste management; ability to pass background and drug

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum of one year experience in waste management.
• Ability to pass a background check.
• Ability to pass a drug test.

Responsibilities

• Collect trash, recyclables, hazardous waste, scrap metal, and other waste streams throughout the plant and transport them to disposal containers or storage rooms.
• Segregate, sort, and package waste streams for off-site shipment in accordance with EPA requirements.
• Load semi-trailers and roll-off boxes for shipment to landfills, recycling centers, and other disposal sites.
• Perform and document daily equipment inspections prior to use.
• Maintain the 90-day Accumulation Area, including cleaning and labeling drums.
• Assist the supervisor in responding to chemical spill incidents and containerizing cleaned-up materials.
• Assist the Resource Manager with daily supply delivery, waste pick-up, and waste organization.
• Perform inspections of waste storage areas and emergency equipment and take corrective action.
• Inventory and inspect waste spill kits.
• Document and inform the Resource Manager of any contamination in recycling and waste containers.
• Operate a forklift to load/unload trucks.
• Operate a burden carrier.
• Follow all plant safety guidelines.
• Perform other tasks as assigned.
