Job summary

University of Iowa Health Care is seeking an Environmental Systems Mechanic at the Downtown Campus to install, repair and maintain environmental systems including chillers and automation controls.

Ideal candidates will have experience with building automation systems, data analysis, and EPA refrigerant regulations, and will train apprentices and other staff as needed. This is a full-time on-campus role with competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of building environmental automation systems and ability to collect, analyze and modify system performance.
• Knowledge of the principles of operation, methods, materials, and tools used in environmental systems.
• Ability to operate, inspect, maintain and repair chilled water systems.

Responsibilities

• Performs all duties listed under Environmental Systems Mechanic I and II.
• Operates, inspects, maintains and repairs chillers, chilled water equipment and systems including auxiliary equipment such as air compressors and pumps.
• Performs leak tests, transfers refrigerants, charges machines and handles Freon refrigerants per EPA regulations.
• Conducts tests using computerized building environmental automation systems and records service reports.
• Modifies building automation systems that control heating and cooling systems.
• Provides training to apprentices, replacements, students and other personnel as required.
• Investigates methods and equipment for automation systems and makes recommendations to engineers.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
