Job summary

Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Division of Plant Industry, seeks an Environmental Supervisor I to lead environmental specialists in protecting native and cultivated flora across the state.

The position focuses on training, performance management, and coordinating enforcement activities; requires strong leadership, logistics, and regulatory knowledge within a public-sector setting.

Qualifications

• Minimum requirements include HS diploma and 2 years experience as Environmental Specialist I or higher.
• Or HS diploma and 2.5 years in apiculture, environmental protection, regulation, or health; or one physical/natural science; or engineering.
• Or a bachelor's degree and 1 year of relevant experience.
• Requires a valid Class E driver license.
• Foreign credentials: provide credential evaluation if degree earned outside the US.

Responsibilities

• Plan, supervise and direct Environmental Specialists in flora protection and regulation.
• Provide training, performance appraisals, and attendance/leave decisions.
• Manage budgets and program resources efficiently.
• Ensure compliance with division policies and procedures.
• Fill vacancies through interviews, references, and packets.
• Coordinate safety training and incident response.
• Prepare monthly activity reports and work plans.
• Liaise with field activities and industry on export requirements.
