What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Research, draft, and promulgate air quality regulations and plans while ensuring compliance with state and federal requirements
- Develop budgets and prepare grant applications for funding opportunities, tracking grant programs for resource allocation
- Provide technical support for cross-agency initiatives while investigating environmental problems and developing solutions
- Manage mobile sources emissions control programs and oversee enforcement activities for the Bureau of Air Quality
- Draft legislation and provide testimony on air quality-related bills and federal rulemaking proposals
What is Required (Qualifications):
- A minimum of eight (8) years of education and/or experience in environmental science or a related field, including at least two (2) years of supervisory or program management experience
- At least 15 credit hours in science or engineering coursework
- Strong quantitative, analytical, written, and verbal communication skills
- Proven ability to work collaboratively with technical staff, administrative officials, and the public
- Experience implementing environmental regulatory programs at the federal, state, or local level
