Position: Environmental Specialist

Location: Indianapolis, IN

We are seeking a team-oriented and energetic problem solver to join our environmental science team. This role involves working directly with experienced Project Managers, Geologists, Ecologists, and Environmental Specialists on characterizing natural resources and documenting potential environmental impacts on diverse infrastructure projects.

The ideal candidate will share our vision of integrating built environments with natural resources by seeking practical solutions while maintaining high standards of excellence in our growing environmental practice.

Responsibilities
General Duties
  • Preparation of environmental documentation under NEPA requirements
  • Conducting wetland and waterway delineations
  • Preparation of 'Waters' reports and waterway permits
  • Assisting in wetland and stream mitigation plans and site monitoring
  • Conducting Phase I Environmental Site Assessments
  • Providing general environmental consulting and proposal support for new business development
Technical Duties
  • Field data collection for environmental investigations
  • Sampling and analyzing soil, water, and other materials
  • Gathering geographic information using GPS and GIS software
  • Developing environmental maps and reports
  • Assessing impacts to natural and human environments and proposing mitigation measures
  • Coordinating with government agencies regarding environmental resources
  • Maintaining proficiency with environmental regulations
  • Supporting public participation and outreach efforts
Client Coordination
  • Maintaining positive client relationships
  • Identifying new business opportunities
  • Supporting proposal development and business development efforts
Quality Assurance
  • Adhering to QA/QC guidelines
  • Reviewing reports and plans for accuracy
  • Responding promptly to regulatory comments
Qualifications
  • Recent or upcoming graduation with a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geology, Environmental Science, Ecology, or related fields
  • Ability to work well independently and in teams
  • Willingness to work in variable conditions, including remote sites
  • Strong communication skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications
