Job summary

Nucor Insulated Panel Group (NIPG) seeks an Environmental Specialist to support Sheridan, AR, and other locations in the US. You will lead environmental compliance programs, coordinate with agencies, and drive EMS initiatives across sites.

The role requires up to 50% travel, strong documentation and reporting skills, and a track record in environmental permitting and audits. Safety and regulatory adherence are central to daily work in a manufacturing setting.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Lead plant-wide environmental projects and compliance programs.
• Assist multiple locations in maintaining air, water, and waste regulation compliance.
• Interact with federal, state, and local agencies on permitting and inspections.
• Submit environmental reports (Air Emissions Inventory, TRI, DMRs).
• Represent Nucor Insulated Panel Group at meetings, training, and audits.

Job description

Basic Job Functions:

Nucor Insulated Panel Group (NIPG), a proud Nucor product group, is one of North America’s largest and most experienced manufacturers of Insulated Metal Panels. With 8 locations throughout the United States and 1 location in Canada. This role would be supporting the NIPG locations in Sheridan, Arkansas, North Las Vegas, Nevada, and Brigham City, Utah.

Environmental Specialists at Nucor Insulated Panel Group provide leadership in all environmental matters including permitting, maintenance, recording keeping, and auditing of environmental compliance programs. Additional duties include taking a lead role in plant-wide environmental project management, training, and community outreach.

• Leadership role in promoting Nucor’s mission ensuring that safety is instilled as a value with a strong focus on environmental stewardship.
• Assist multiple locations in the division in maintaining compliance with air, water, and waste regulations, tank management, emergency plans, Risk Management Plan, and environmental management system (EMS).
• Ability to work in a team setting or independently on projects.
• Interact with various Federal, State, and Local regulatory agencies on permitting, compliance, and facility inspections.
• Submit required environmental reports to agencies including but not limited to: Air Emissions Inventory, Annual Waste Summary, Toxic Release Inventory (TRI), discharge monitoring reports (DMRs).
• Represent Nucor Insulated Panel Group at Corporate and Nucor Insulated Panel Group EHS meetings, training sessions, and plant audits.
• Track and submit division metrics as related to corporate requirements/President’s Environmental award statistics.

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Two years of environmental compliance experience
• Strong organizational skills and written and verbal communication skills
• Knowledge of MS Word, MS Excel and MS Outlook.
• Valid driver’s license
• Willing and able to travel in the US and internationally up to 50% of the time.
• Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the US (Nucor will not sponsor the need for a visa now or in the future).

Preferred Qualifications:

• 4-year degree in environmental, health, safety or related technical field.
• Solid understanding of environmental permitting and serve as a liaison for State and Federal environmental agencies
• 3+ years of environmental compliance experience in a manufacturing field

Ability and desire to promote into a senior level environmental role at other Nucor divisions
