Job summary

Evonik Corporation in Wisconsin seeks an experienced environmental professional to own site compliance programs, ensuring adherence to federal, state and local regulations such as EPA, RCRA and Clean Air Act Title V. Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Chemistry, Engineering, or a related scientific field.
  • 5+ years of environmental experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations, permitting processes, and compliance requirements.
  • Experience with PSM, RMP, hazardous waste (RCRA), and air/water permitting.
  • Strong root cause analysis, problem-solving and continuous improvement skills.
  • Excellent communication with internal teams and external regulators, auditors, contractors.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Own and manage all site environmental compliance programs, ensuring adherence to federal, state and local regulations.
  • Serve as primary contact for regulatory agencies and lead audits, inspections, and reporting activities.
  • Prepare, review, and submit environmental permits, reports, and compliance documentation on time and accurately.
  • Manage hazardous waste programs, including LQG requirements, recordkeeping and annual reporting.
  • Coordinate environmental monitoring, sampling, testing and data analysis; interpret results and recommend actions.
  • Lead incident investigations and root cause analysis; implement corrective actions.
  • Identify and drive continuous improvement initiatives, incl. waste minimization and performance enhancements.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to integrate environmental requirements into plant operations and projects.
  • Develop and deliver environmental training to employees to ensure awareness and safe work practices.
  • Interface with contractors, consultants, auditors, and vendors to support environmental programs.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Own and manage all site environmental compliance programs, ensuring adherence to federal, state, and local regulations (e.g., EPA, RCRA, Clean Air Act Title V, wastewater/pretreatment requirements).
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies (e.g., EPA, WIDNR) and lead environmental audits, inspections, and reporting activities.
  • Prepare, review, and submit all environmental permits, regulatory reports, and compliance documentation on time and with accuracy.
  • Manage hazardous waste programs, including Large Quantity Generator (LQG) requirements, recordkeeping, and annual reporting.
  • Coordinate environmental monitoring, sampling, testing, and data analysis; interpret results and recommend corrective actions or improvements.
  • Lead incident investigations and root cause analysis related to environmental events; implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Identify and drive continuous improvement initiatives, including waste minimization and environmental performance enhancements.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure environmental requirements are integrated into plant operations and projects.
  • Develop and deliver environmental training to employees to ensure awareness, compliance, and safe work practices.
  • Interface with contractors, consultants, auditors, and vendors to support environmental programs and projects.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Chemistry, Engineering, or a related scientific field strongly preferred
  • 5+ years of environmental experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations, permitting processes, and compliance requirements.
  • Experience with key regulatory programs such as PSM, RMP, hazardous waste (RCRA), and air/water permitting.
  • Demonstrated ability in root cause analysis, problem-solving, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders (regulators, auditors, contractors).
  • Strong analytical and technical skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
