Job summary

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Chemistry, Engineering or related field.
  • 5+ years of environmental experience in manufacturing or industrial setting.
  • Knowledge of EPA, RCRA, Clean Air Act Title V, wastewater/pretreatment requirements.
  • Experience with PSM, RMP, hazardous waste (RCRA), and air/water permitting.
  • Ability to communicate with regulators and stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and continuous improvement skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Own and manage all site environmental compliance programs.
  • Serve as primary contact for regulatory agencies and lead audits.
  • Prepare, review, and submit environmental permits and regulatory reports.
  • Manage hazardous waste programs (LQG, recordkeeping, annual reporting).
  • Coordinate environmental monitoring, sampling, data analysis; recommend actions.
  • Lead incident investigations and root cause analyses; implement actions.
  • Identify and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to integrate environmental requirements.
  • Develop and deliver environmental training to employees.
  • Interface with contractors, consultants, auditors, and vendors.

Bring your fresh perspective, develop your strengths, break out your mold, and find a career that fits your dreams with us.**Click on the link below to learn what our employees have to say about Evonik:** https://careers.evonik.com/en/about/meet-the-team/**RESPONSIBILITIES**- Own and manage all site environmental compliance programs, ensuring adherence to federal, state, and local regulations (e.g., EPA, RCRA, Clean Air Act Title V, wastewater/pretreatment requirements).- Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies (e.g., EPA, WIDNR) and lead environmental audits, inspections, and reporting activities.- Prepare, review, and submit all environmental permits, regulatory reports, and compliance documentation on time and with accuracy.- Manage hazardous waste programs, including Large Quantity Generator (LQG) requirements, recordkeeping, and annual reporting.- Coordinate environmental monitoring, sampling, testing, and data analysis; interpret results and recommend corrective actions or improvements.- Lead incident investigations and root cause analysis related to environmental events; implement corrective and preventive actions.- Identify and drive continuous improvement initiatives, including waste minimization and environmental performance enhancements.- Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure environmental requirements are integrated into plant operations and projects.- Develop and deliver environmental training to employees to ensure awareness, compliance, and safe work practices.- Interface with contractors, consultants, auditors, and vendors to support environmental programs and projects.**REQUIREMENTS**- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Chemistry, Engineering, or a related scientific field strongly preferred - 5+ years of environmental experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment strongly preferred - Knowledge of environmental regulations, permitting processes, and compliance requirements. - Experience with key regulatory programs such as PSM, RMP, hazardous waste (RCRA), and air/water permitting. - Demonstrated ability in root cause analysis, problem-solving, and continuous improvement methodologies. - Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders (regulators, auditors, contractors). - Strong analytical and technical skills with attention to detail.- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently in a fast-paced environment.The Evonik Group adopts an Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) approach.
