Job summary

Kettering Health Hamilton is seeking an Environmental Services Worker II for evening shifts on a PRN basis. The role emphasizes cleaning, floor care, and waste management to maintain a sanitary, welcoming hospital environment.

Applicants should be capable of following instructions and complying with infection control requirements. This position requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, read and communicate effectively in English, and operate cleaning equipment while adhering to safety

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Relevant experience in environmental services in healthcare or similar setting preferred
• Will consider candidates with related experience in lieu of diploma

Responsibilities

• Clean, sanitize, and maintain patient care areas to support a safe environment
• Perform cleaning, floor care, and waste management per infection control standards
• Follow verbal and written instructions and use cleaning equipment properly

Responsibilities & Requirements

The Environmental Services Worker II plays a vital role in supporting patient care and safety by ensuring a clean, sanitary, and welcoming environment throughout the healthcare facility. This position is responsible for performing cleaning, floor care, and waste management tasks in accordance with infection control and safety standards. Performs other duties as assigned. All job responsibilities are to be carried out in alignment with Kettering Health's mission, vision, values, and B Safe program.

Required Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• will consider candidates with relevant experience in lieu of diploma.

Required Work Experience:

• Experience in environmental services, housekeeping, or custodial work in a healthcare or similar setting preferred
• typically 1-3 months or more.

Required Licenses, Certifications, and Registrations:

• Annual DOT certification

Skills:

• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
• knowledge of cleaning and disinfection procedures
• ability to follow verbal and written instructions
• basic computer skills for supply tracking or training modules
• ability to operate and maintain cleaning equipment
• understanding of infection control and safety protocols
• ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds and stand/walk for extended periods.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Work Experience:

• Experience with floor care equipment (e.g., buffers, extractors) and hospital cleaning protocols preferred.

Preferred Licenses, Certifications, and Registrations:

• Certified Healthcare Environmental Services Technician (CHEST) or similar certification preferred.
