City of Auburn (AL) is seeking an Environmental Services Technician-Solid Waste to join the Environmental Services department. The role carries responsibility for collecting and disposing of solid waste on scheduled routes, operating and maintaining division equipment, and inspecting assigned vehicles daily.
Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma or equivalent, 1–3 years of related experience, and be able to obtain a Class B CDL.

This position is responsible for the collection of solid waste. This position reports to the Solid Waste Division Manager.

Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent; one (1) to three (3) years’ experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

The work is heavy work, which requires exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Work is typically performed while intermittently sitting, standing, stooping, bending, crouching, or walking. The employee uses tools or equipment requiring manual dexterity, distinguishes between shades of color, and utilizes the sense of smell.
The work is typically performed in various outdoor environments. The employee is exposed to noise, dust, dirt, grease, machinery with moving parts, contagious or infectious diseases, irritating chemicals, and occasional cold or inclement weather. The work requires the use of protective devices such as masks, goggles, gloves, etc.
