Job summary

Geisinger is seeking a part-time Environmental Services (EVS) staff member to maintain cleanliness throughout hospital spaces, including patient and non-patient areas. Evening shifts run from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm with weekend rotation, and EVS covers 24/7 operations including holidays.

The role includes cleaning, disinfection, waste handling, PPE use, and adherence to hospital protocols. A sign-on bonus up to $1,250 and a $2.00 shift differential apply to eligible candidates.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Experience in healthcare EVS or cleaning in clinical environments is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Clean and disinfect patient and non-patient facing areas.
• Handle various waste streams (municipal and recyclable).
• Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Follow procedures for hospital-approved cleaning products and disinfection.
• Place signage to indicate cleaning in progress and wet floors.
• Report facility repairs as directed or observed.
• Utilize mobile technology to support bed management and EVS tasks.
• Perform detailed cleaning (high dusting, walls, ceilings, vents, lights).
• Collect soiled linen and transport to staging area for vendor pickup.
• Comply with Medication Room protocols where applicable.

Job Summary

Performs a variety of healthcare environmental services (EVS) duties to enhance the healthcare environment by maintaining the location assigned. Follows special healthcare cleaning and trash handling techniques as required, ensuring professional and appropriate service standards while performing the job. Ensures the very best patient/family/ customer experience by optimizing all customer interactions.

Job Duties

• Cleans and disinfects patient and non-patient facing areas, departments and spaces.
• Handles various waste streams to include but not limited to; municipal waste and recyclable waste.
• Wears standard personal protective equipment as required.
• Follows procedures for the proper use of hospital approved products utilized in the cleaning and disinfection processes.
• Places the appropriate signage in an area to indicate cleaning is occurring and floor is wet to reduce the risk of falls.
• Reports identified facility repairs as directed or observed, according to current established policy or procedure.
• Utilizes mobile technology to ensure compliance with bed management procedures and other environmental services functions that are performed daily.
• Performs detailed cleaning to include but not limited to; high dusting, walls, ceilings, tracks, vents and lights.
• Collects soiled linen and transports to hospital staging area for vendor pickup as applicable.
• All EVS Staff who enter Medication Rooms (Where Applicable) must receive mandatory education on proper Medication Room protocol.

Hours for this Part-time position are 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm + weekend rotation.

EVS provides healthcare environmental services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including weekends and holidays.

We clean and disinfect both patient and non-patient areas, helping to prevent communicable diseases by thoroughly cleaning and disinfecting public areas, hospital office and administrative areas, patient rooms, restrooms and hallways.
