Job summary

Geisinger in Wilkes-Barre, PA is seeking an Environmental Services Technician to maintain a clean, safe hospital environment. You will clean and disinfect patient and non-patient areas, follow healthcare cleaning protocols, and wear PPE to protect patients and staff.

You'll participate in a 3:00 pm–11:30 pm shift with weekend and holiday rotation, enjoy competitive compensation and benefits, and have opportunities for CHEST certification.

Qualifications

• Cleans and disinfects patient and non-patient areas, departments and spaces.
• Follows procedures for use of hospital approved cleaning and disinfection products.
• Adheres to PPE requirements and safety protocols during every cleaning task.

Responsibilities

• Cleans and disinfects patient and non-patient areas, departments and spaces.
• Handles municipal and recyclable waste streams as required.
• Wears standard personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
• Follows procedures for proper use of hospital approved cleaning products.
• Places appropriate signage to indicate cleaning in progress and wet floors.
• Reports identified facility repairs as directed or observed.
• Utilizes mobile technology to support bed management and EVS tasks.
• Performs detailed cleaning including high dusting, walls, ceilings, vents and lights.
• Collects soiled linen and transports to hospital staging area as applicable.
• All EVS staff entering Medication Rooms must receive proper Medication Room protocol education.

Job Duties

• Cleans and disinfects patient and non-patient facing areas, departments and spaces.
• Handles various waste streams to include but not limited to; municipal waste and recyclable waste.
• Wears standard personal protective equipment as required.
• Follows procedures for the proper use of hospital approved products utilized in the cleaning and disinfection processes.
• Places the appropriate signage in an area to indicate cleaning is occurring and floor is wet to reduce the risk of falls.
• Reports identified facility repairs as directed or observed, according to current established policy or procedure.
• Utilizes mobile technology to ensure compliance with bed management procedures and other environmental services functions that are performed daily.
• Performs detailed cleaning to include but not limited to; high dusting, walls, ceilings, tracks, vents and lights.
• Collects soiled linen and transports to hospital staging area for vendor pickup as applicable.
• All EVS Staff who enter Medication Rooms (Where Applicable) must receive mandatory education on proper Medication Room protocol.

Hours for this position are 3:00 pm to 11:30 pm + weekend and holiday rotation.

EVS provides healthcare environmental services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including weekends and holidays.

We clean and disinfect both patient and non-patient areas, helping to prevent communicable diseases by thoroughly cleaning and disinfecting public areas, hospital office and administrative areas, patient rooms, restrooms and hallways.
