Weekend and Holiday Rotation

Responsible for total sanitation, floor care, preparation, and organization of patient rooms, floors, bed set-ups, and ancillary areas.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Thoroughly clean assigned areas including furniture, tile, fixtures, windows, sinks, tubs, toilets, mirrors, showers, etc. Perform high and low dusting, mop floors, clean door frames, ceiling vents, vacuum carpets, and clean elevators and stairs.
• Follow all organizational policies and procedures.
• Observe all isolation procedures and Infection Prevention Standards. Use correct chemicals for different pathogens.
• Maintain EVS closet, cart, and equipment in a neat manner. Report safety hazards or equipment issues. Ensure supplies are stocked. Know proper chemical usage for pathogens.
• Replenish paper towels, soap, and hand sanitizer supplies.
• Hang cubicles/drapes per department policy.
• Coordinate special projects like construction cleaning, wall cleaning, drapes, window washing, and post informational signs.
• Move furniture, supplies, and equipment safely. Seek assistance when needed.
• Properly mix and store chemicals, use PPE including safety goggles, follow directions, and use wet floor signs to block off work areas.
• Make beds according to specific needs, identify bed types, log beds in EPIC, and respond promptly to supervisor calls. Use Xenex UV Light robot where available.
• Return soiled and clean mops to proper areas.
• Follow all regulations and standards.
• Handle, transport, and dispose of waste properly, including hazardous and infectious waste. Complete DOT Certification for medical waste transport.

Education and Experience

High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Previous cleaning experience helpful.

Physical Demands

This is very heavy work involving repetitive motions: standing, walking, handling, grasping, pushing, pulling, reaching, climbing, stooping, kneeling, twisting, bending, crouching, crawling, and occasionally smelling. Must lift/move up to 25 lbs regularly, up to 50 lbs frequently, and up to 100 lbs occasionally. Vision abilities include close, peripheral, distance, and depth perception.
