Job summary

Corewell Health is seeking an Environmental Service Technician at the Farmington Hills Hospital site. You will clean and disinfect patient rooms, offices and ancillary areas, remove linens and waste, and maintain floors, carpets and upholstery. Training is provided, no experience required, and you can grow within the health system.

This full-time evening shift runs 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., Monday to Friday, with every other weekend off, and a 40-hour work week.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and follow instructions.
• Public service and/or customer service experience preferred.
• High school graduate or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

• Clean, disinfect, and stock patient rooms, offices and ancillary areas per procedures.
• Remove linens and waste streams, and safely dispose them.
• Maintain floors, carpets, and upholstery; perform interim/restorative cleaning.
• Assemble, maintain, and store cleaning equipment and supplies.
• Communicate with team to ensure continuity of services and safety.
• Assist visitors and staff in navigation within the hospital.
• Work across department sites as needed.
• Adhere to safety initiatives and complete required competencies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Functions

• Responsible for the cleaning, disinfecting and stocking of patient rooms, offices and ancillary areas according to established procedures. Responsible for the removal and disposal of linens and waste streams.
• Performs interim and restorative maintenance to hard floor, carpets and upholstery according to procedures.
• Assembles, maintains and stores equipment/supplies that are necessary to complete tasks according to department standards.
• Communicates and collaborates with other members of the team to ensure continuity and coordination of services. Reports general maintenance and specialized cleaning requirements in work area.
• Assists visitors and employees in navigating through the hospital to reach their destination.
• Fully functioning within one cleaning area.
• May be expected to work across department sites for coverage and business need.
• Actively participates in safety initiatives and risk mitigating measures where appropriate and completes all position and unit safety related competencies and requirements on a timely basis.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Public service and or customer service experience in a hotel, hospital, environmental services, or janitorial experience
