Job summary

VMFH Rehab Hospital in Washington state is seeking an Environmental Services Supervisor to lead our EVS team. You will ensure a clean, safe, and well-maintained environment across the facility, manage staff, and ensure regulatory compliance.

This full-time role requires high school diploma, prior cleaning or housekeeping experience, and strong English communication. You will schedule staff, train employees, and participate in safety and quality initiatives to support excellent patient care.

• Previous cleaning or housekeeping experience required; experience in an acute care setting preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing, with patients, visitors and staff.

Responsibilities

• Oversee EVS operations to maintain a clean, safe, and well-maintained environment.
• Manage staff: hire, train, evaluate, and schedule EVS personnel.
• Ensure compliance with JCAHO, federal, state, and local regulations and cleanliness standards.
• Inspect facility condition and coordinate repairs, painting, and space utilization changes.
• Participate in hospital Safety Committees and support facility improvement efforts.

Job Summary:
The Environmental Services Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the environmental services (EVS) operations of the facility, ensuring a clean, safe, and well-maintained environment. This role includes staff management, regulatory compliance, and support for facility improvement efforts.

How you'll contribute:
A Environmental Services Supervisor who excels at this role:

• Clean patient rooms, restrooms, lounges, offices, corridors, walls, and windows per schedule.
• Perform floor care including vacuuming, sweeping, and mopping; restock restrooms and clean fixtures.
• Operate cleaning equipment and machinery such as vacuums, mini extractors, and hand trucks.
• Inspect and evaluate the hospital's physical condition and recommend repairs, painting, and space utilization changes.
• Hire, train, evaluate, and discipline EVS personnel according to policy.
• Schedule EVS staff to ensure adequate coverage throughout the hospital.
• Develop and implement orientation and ongoing training programs for staff.
• Participate in hospital Safety Committees.
• Ensure compliance with JCAHO, federal, state, and local regulations and cleanliness standards.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
