Environmental Services Specialist – Campus (T236145)

Environmental Services Specialist – Campus (3). Responsible for routine and major professional cleaning across the university campus, responding to spills, maintaining cleaning schedules, and providing excellent customer service.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS TO INCLUDE:
  • Perform a variety of routine and major professional cleaning duties in public and private spaces.
  • Respond to urgent cleaning needs as a result of spills or accidents.
  • Adhere to established schedule to maintain cleanliness standards.
  • Complete tasks independently using professional cleaning techniques.
  • Actively participate in ongoing training to maintain professional cleaning skills.
  • Empty, clean and replace liners in waste containers daily; coordinate removal of recycling and large waste.
  • Regularly inspect and refill supplies of paper, soap and other products throughout shift.
  • Maintain carpeted areas through daily vacuuming and spot treatment of stains; maintain hard flooring and stair treads through daily sweeping, wet and/or dry mopping.
  • Inspect and maintain cleanliness of high‑traffic areas such as restrooms, breakrooms and lobby areas; maintain cleanliness of door handles, water fountains, light switches, elevator buttons and similar high‑contact surfaces.
  • Dust, clean and disinfect surfaces including furniture, walls, doors, glass, windows, counters, lab and bathroom fixtures.
  • Properly use, store and maintain adequate supply of equipment and cleaning products; use resources safely and cost‑effectively.
  • Use assigned communication device to read and respond to texts, emails and service requests; interact with customers, visitors, students and coworkers professionally.
KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES
  • Ability to read and write and comprehend written and oral instruction.
  • Ability to use personal computer, cell phone, tablet or other device with limited training.
  • Ability to utilize email programs and applications necessary to perform job duties with limited training.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

Previous housekeeping experience preferred.

High School Diploma or GED preferred but not required.

Must be able to drive for performance of university business; requires valid U.S. driver’s license, at least 21 years old, at least three years of driving experience, and an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record.

Physical requirements: lift and carry a minimum of 50 pounds; bending, stooping, kneeling and walking significant distances; working in confined spaces; working within extreme temperature ranges.

Starting hourly rate: $15.00 per hour.

Work schedule: Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including Monday‑Friday, 4:00 a.m.–12:30 p.m. Shifts may change to meet university needs.
