Job summary

The University of Alabama at Birmingham is seeking an Environmental Services Specialist-Campus to perform routine and major cleaning duties across campus facilities. You will respond to spills, maintain cleanliness, and interact with students, visitors, and staff in a professional manner.

Starting hourly rate is $15.00 with a flexible day shift (Day/1st Shift). Prior housekeeping experience is preferred; HS diploma or GED is acceptable.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and write and comprehend written and oral instruction.
• Ability to use PCs, cell phones, tablets, or other devices with limited training.
• Ability to utilize email programs necessary to perform job duties with limited training.
• Ability to work independently.
• Ability to work as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine and major cleaning duties in public and private spaces of the university.
• Responds to spills or accidents and adheres to cleaning schedules.
• Empties and replaces liners; coordinates recycling and waste removal.
• Inspects and restocks supplies like paper and soap during shifts.
• Maintains carpeted and hard flooring through vacuuming and mopping.
• Cleans high-traffic areas and disinfects surfaces.
• Uses equipment safely and stores cleaning products properly.
• Reads and responds to service requests via device and maintains professional conduct.
