The University of Alabama at Birmingham is seeking a dedicated Cleaner to perform cleaning duties across public and private spaces in the university. This role involves responding to urgent cleaning needs in addition to maintaining cleanliness standards and using professional techniques and equipment.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, have previous housekeeping experience, and be able to work a flexible schedule, including early morning shifts.
Performs a variety of routine and major professional cleaning duties in public and private spaces of the university. Responds to urgent cleaning needs as a result of spills or accidents and adheres to established schedule to maintain cleanliness standards. Uses professional cleaning products, equipment and techniques. Interacts with customers, visitors, students, coworkers and others in a friendly, helpful, and professional manner, and assists other team members with daily work and special projects.
Previous housekeeping experience preferred.
$15.00 per hour
Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including Monday – Friday, 4:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Shifts are subject to change to meet the needs of the University.
High School Diploma or GED preferred but not required.
Some positions require that driving record meet University underwriting guidelines to drive vehicle in performance of University business. Current underwriting guidelines include possession of a valid driver’s license issued in the United States, at least 21 years of age, at least three years of driving experience and maintaining an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
Possess the necessary physical requirements, with or without the aid of mechanical devices, to safely perform the duties and responsibilities of this position.
