JOB SUMMARY

Performs a variety of routine and major professional cleaning duties in public and private spaces of the university. Responds to urgent cleaning needs as a result of spills or accidents and adheres to established schedule to maintain cleanliness standards. Uses professional cleaning products, equipment and techniques. Interacts with customers, visitors, students, coworkers and others in a friendly, helpful, and professional manner, and assists other team members with daily work and special projects.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Perform a variety of routine and major professional cleaning duties in public and private spaces of the university, respond to urgent cleaning needs from spills or accidents, and adhere to established schedule to maintain cleanliness standards.
• Complete tasks independently using professional cleaning techniques, and actively participate in ongoing training to maintain cleaning skills.
• Empty, clean and replace liners in waste containers daily, and coordinate removal of recycling and large waste and debris items.
• Regularly inspect and refill supplies of paper, soap and other products throughout the shift to ensure they are available at all times.
• Maintain carpeted areas through daily vacuuming and spot treatment of stains; maintain hard flooring and stair treads through daily sweeping, wet and/or dry mopping.
• Inspect and actively maintain cleanliness of high‑traffic areas such as restrooms, breakrooms and lobby areas throughout the shift; maintain cleanliness of door handles, water fountains, light switches, elevator buttons and similar high‑contact surfaces.
• Dust, clean and disinfect a variety of surfaces including furniture, walls, doors, glass, windows, counters, lab and bathroom fixtures.
• Properly use, store and maintain adequate supply of equipment and cleaning products, using resources safely and cost‑effectively.
• Use assigned communication device to read and respond to texts, emails and service requests, and interact with customers, visitors, students, coworkers and others in a friendly, helpful and professional manner.

EXPERIENCE

Previous housekeeping experience preferred.

STARTING HOURLY RATE

$15.00 per hour

WORK SCHEDULE

Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including Monday – Friday, 4:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Shifts are subject to change to meet the needs of the University.

QUALIFICATIONS

High School Diploma or GED preferred but not required.

LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS

Some positions require that driving record meet University underwriting guidelines to drive vehicle in performance of University business. Current underwriting guidelines include possession of a valid driver’s license issued in the United States, at least 21 years of age, at least three years of driving experience and maintaining an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).

PERSONAL

• Lifting and carrying a minimum of fifty (50) pounds.

• Performing tasks requiring bending, stooping, kneeling and walking significant distances between and within buildings on campus.
