We are seeking a hands-on, results-driven Environmental Services Shift Supervisor to oversee evening and overnight operations. This position requires a strong leader with proven supervisory skills, sound managerial judgment, and the ability to motivate staff while maintaining high standards of cleanliness, sanitation, safety, and regulatory compliance.

The ideal candidate leads by example, takes ownership of departmental performance, holds team members accountable, and can make sound decisions independently. This is a working supervisory role that requires both active participation in daily Environmental Services operations and effective management of staff.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise, direct, and support Environmental Services staff assigned to the evening and overnight shifts.
• Lead by example by actively participating in cleaning, sanitation, and other departmental duties as needed.
• Assign daily tasks, establish priorities, monitor productivity, and ensure all assigned work is completed to established standards.
• Provide leadership, coaching, training, and constructive feedback to team members.
• Hold employees accountable for attendance, punctuality, work quality, and compliance with departmental policies.
• Address performance concerns promptly and elevate disciplinary matters appropriately.
• Ensure resident rooms, common areas, and other facility spaces are maintained in a clean, sanitary, safe, and orderly condition.
• Ensure proper use, storage, and handling of cleaning chemicals, equipment, and supplies.
• Monitor staffing levels, coordinate shift coverage, and communicate operational concerns to management.
• Conduct routine inspections and correct deficiencies in a timely manner.
• Maintain compliance with infection prevention protocols, safety procedures, and applicable healthcare and regulatory standards.
• Complete required documentation, checklists, and shift reports accurately and on time.
• Communicate effectively with other departments and facility leadership to address operational needs.
• Exercise sound judgment when resolving staff issues, responding to changing priorities, and managing unexpected situations.
• Ensure an effective handoff between shifts and communicate outstanding tasks or concerns to the appropriate personnel.

Qualifications

• Previous supervisory or leadership experience required; experience in Environmental Services, housekeeping, or a similar operational department strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated managerial ability, including staff oversight, task delegation, performance management, and problem-solving.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate employees, establish expectations, and maintain accountability.
• Ability to balance hands-on work with administrative and supervisory responsibilities.
• Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills.
• Ability to work independently, make sound decisions, and manage competing priorities.
• Knowledge of cleaning procedures, sanitation standards, chemical safety, and infection prevention practices, or the ability to learn these requirements.
• Dependable, professional, and willing to take initiative.
• Ability to work the assigned evening shift (3 PM–11 PM) or overnight shift (11 PM–7 AM).
