Job summary

Corewell Health seeks an Environmental Service Technician Lead to support daily operations, staff scheduling, and quality inspections at Wayne Hospital. You will mentor team members, resolve routine issues, and ensure safe, clean environments across departments.

You will coordinate shifts, inspect work, and maintain equipment while upholding department standards and safety policies in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1 year of public service and/or customer service in a hotel, hospital, environmental services, or janitorial.
  • Knowledge of housekeeping materials, supplies and equipment for a safe work environment.
  • Ability to train in housekeeping, sanitation and safety.
  • Excellent written, verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Time management and organizational skills; self-directed.
  • Ability to make quality, independent decisions.
  • Analytical and strong problem solving skills.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines with high volumes and interruptions.
  • Maintain the strictest levels of confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate shift activities, roster staffing, monitor EPIC tracker for room cleans and transports.
  • Assign and adjust work schedules.
  • Inspect and coordinate employee work assignments, perform quality assurance inspections.
  • Provide ongoing instruction per department standards.
  • Communicate and collaborate across teams to ensure continuity of services.
  • Clean and maintain equipment and store it properly.
  • Assist upline in resolving issues or escalate as needed.
  • Own daily operations and initiatives.
  • May work across sites to cover business needs.
  • Participate in safety initiatives and complete safety competencies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Functions
  • Coordinate shift activities to include produce daily staffing roster, adjust staff assignments as needed, monitor EPIC tracker for room cleans, equipment requests, and patient transports.
  • Assigns and adjusts work schedules as necessary.
  • Coordinates and inspects employee work assignments and completes quality assurance inspections.
  • Provides ongoing instruction to Environmental Services employees according to department standards.
  • Communicates and collaborates with other members of the team and across departments in order to ensure continuity and coordination of services.
  • Cleans and maintains equipment used in performance of duties and stores it properly.
  • Acts on behalf of the upline assisting in resolving work-related issues, otherwise reporting issues to upline.
  • Assumes ownership of various daily operations and initiatives.
  • May be expected to work across department sites for coverage and business need.
  • Actively participates in safety initiatives and risk mitigating measures where appropriate and completes all position and unit safety related competencies and requirements on a timely basis.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Required

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • 1 year of public service and or customer service experience in a hotel, hospital, environmental services, or janitorial experience
  • Knowledge of housekeeping materials, supplies and equipment necessary to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Ability to conduct suitable training in the areas of housekeeping, sanitation and safety.
  • Excellent written, verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Time management and organizational skills. Self directed.
  • Ability to make quality, independent decisions.
  • Analytical and strong problem solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently under tight deadlines, high volumes and multiple interruptions.
  • Ability to maintain the strictest levels of confidentiality.

Preferred
  • Working knowledge of both the EVS and patient Transport positions.
  • 1 year Leadership experience
  • CRT-Health Care Environmental Services Technician (CHEST) – AHE- 1 year
