Indiana University Health is seeking a dedicated Environmental Services Technician in Indianapolis to perform advanced cleaning and disinfection in high-acuity clinical areas. This role demands specialized knowledge in infection prevention and the ability to mentor others, ensuring compliance with cleanliness and safety standards in environments like the Operating Room and ICU.
The position offers an opportunity to collaborate with clinical teams, enhancing patient safety and care flow while participating in quality improvement initiatives.
This position is Monday through Friday, no weekends or holidays. The standard hours are 8:00am until 4:30pm, but team member will need to be flexible to start as early as 7:00am. This position involves high volume interactions with specific clinical teams.

Specializes in the ability to perform advanced cleaning and disinfection within high-acuity clinical and procedural areas. Demonstrates technical skill, attention to infection prevention protocols, and the mentors and supports the training of others. Supports patient safety through consistent, high-quality service and serve as a resource to peers across Environmental Services and the care team. Performs advanced, high-acuity cleaning and terminal disinfection in complex clinical and procedural areas, including but not limited to the Operating Room (OR), Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Emergency Department (ED), Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), and Isolation Rooms. Applies specialized disinfection protocols and utilizes advanced cleaning tools in accordance with infection control standards and hospital policy. Conducts hazardous and biohazardous waste removal in compliance with safety regulations and infection prevention protocols. Proactively communicates and collaborates with clinical teams to ensure cleaning processes support patient safety and care flow. Serves as a subject matter expert in environmental services operations and infection prevention; acts as a resource to peers and leadership. Participates in quality improvement initiatives to improve cleanliness, service reliability, and patient experience.
