Job summary

AdventHealth in Tarpon Springs is seeking a dedicated Environmental Services Associate to maintain cleanliness and safety across patient and public areas. You will follow hospital cleaning protocols, operate capacity management for bed flow, and support emergency spill cleanup under supervision.

The role requires reading and following instructions in English, flexibility to cover day weekends, and prior hospital cleaning experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Must follow hospital cleaning protocols and safety rules.
• Ability to perform cleaning using the facility's 10-step process.
• Proven ability to work with a team in a fast-paced hospital setting.
• Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.
• Must read and follow instructions in English.

Responsibilities

• Collects trash carts and delivers them to assigned area per schedule.
• Relines trash containers as needed and responds to special pickups.
• Transports carts to designated areas and assists in spills cleanup.
• Adheres to PPE usage and safety guidelines at all times.
• Participates in required safety trainings and capacity management tasks.

Job Description

• Collects trash carts and delivers them to assigned area according to schedule.
• Responds to requests for special trash pickups and relines trash containers as needed.
• Transports trash carts from collection point to designated area.
• Attends all required Safety Training programs and understands responsibilities related to general safety, department/service safety, and specific job-related hazards.
• Follows Hospital Exposure Control/Bloodborne and Airborne Pathogens protocols.
• Promotes effective working relations and collaborates within and across departments to meet goals and objectives.
• Monitors and reports any equipment issues or shortages and ensures supplies are stocked.
• Assists in cleanup of emergency spills as requested or observed.
• Uses personal protective equipment in all aspects of job performance.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

• Perform cleaning function using the 10 steps process in all assigned areas. [Required]
• Demonstrates proper use of Sniper disinfecting process. [Required]
• Demonstrate flexibility by adjusting to staff shortages and covering other assigned areas. [Required]
• Demonstrate ability to maintain high standards set by department team members and the organization. [Required]
• Monitor and report any equipment issues or shortages. [Required]
• Assess areas of assignment and make any suggestion for improvement to supervisor. [Required]
• Demonstrate proper use of personal protective equipment in all aspects of job performance. [Required]
• Document daily assignments completed. [Required]
• Use Capacity Management system to maintain productive flow of beds and patients. Call in and out as required. [Required]
• Accesses the medication room for cleaning purposes only. (Will be properly oriented on med room procedures.) [Required]
• Any other duties as assigned by supervisor or director. [Required]
• Interact with patients/customers in an appropriate manner in relation to age-based competencies. [Required]
• Will be given 30 days to become proficient in all aspects of the position. [Required]
• Requires ability to read and follow instructions. [Required]
• Able to communicate in English. [Required]
