Job summary

NYU Langone Hospital-Suffolk is seeking an Environmental Service Worker I for per diem coverage on variable days from 7:00am to 3:00pm. The role serves a diverse patient population and requires delivering environmental duties with attention to age-specific interactions and patient satisfaction.

The candidate should have a high school diploma or equivalent, plus 1–3 months of cleaning experience and strong interpersonal skills to support a positive patient experience in a hospital setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalency.
• Approximately one to three months experience to gain knowledge of cleaning procedures and equipment use.
• Continued education through appropriate seminars, workshops, participation in departmental meetings, inservices and NYU policy.
• Good interpersonal skills demonstrated in interactions with staff, administrators, patients and visitors.

Responsibilities

• Report to Supervisor for assignment.
• Obtain cleaning equipment and ensure all cleaning items are in place.
• Introduce self to patient/visitors/employees and explain assignment.
• Ensure 7 Step Cleaning procedure is completed.
• Follow 7 Step Cleaning Procedure in vacated patient area including bed sanitizing and neat linen.
• Visually inspect area upon completion of cleaning for cleanliness and neatness.
• Obtain cleaning supplies and chemicals to complete assignments.
• Stock closet/cart with needed supplies/chemicals.
• Maintain cart in neat, clean, orderly condition.
• Ensure that environmental cart is not blocking fire doors.
• Follow manufacturer guidelines when using chemicals; secure chemicals when leaving area.
• Maintain cart in working order.
• Report unsafe equipment and products to supervisor.
• Utilize AIDET with each patient, visitor and staff encounter.
• Promote hospital service standards in daily tasks.
• Promote a positive patient experience during all encounters.
• Demonstrate competencies related to the 7-step room cleaning procedure.

Our Provisional Level 2 Trauma Center delivers comprehensive and specialized care for patients with traumatic injuries. The Stroke Center at NYU Langone Hospital-Suffolk is designated by the New York State Department of Health as a Primary Stroke Center, with expert neurologists available to provide treatment 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Position Summary

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Environmental Service Worker I - Per Diem - Environmental Srvcs - Variable Days 7:00am - 3:00pm. In this role, the successful candidate serves a diverse population of patients, including those with special needs, at all stages of the life cycle. ESW I demonstrate the ability to deal effectively with various age groups of patients, visitors and staff in order to provide required environmental duties. Communication skills must be demonstrated through age-specific interactions that enhance customer satisfaction.

Job Responsibilities

• Report to Supervisor for assignment.
• Obtain cleaning equipment and insure all cleaning items are in place.
• Proceed to destination and introduce self to patient/visitors/employees and briefly explain your assignment.
• Ensure 7 Step Cleaning procedure is completed.
• Follow 7 Step Cleaning Procedure in vacated patient area including bed sanitizing ensuring linen is clean, neat and in excellent condition.
• Visually inspects area upon completion of cleaning to ensure appropriate levels of cleaning and neatness have been achieved.
• Obtains cleaning supplies and cleaning chemicals to complete assignments.
• Stock closet/cart with needed supplies/chemicals to complete required assignments.
• Maintains cart in neat clean orderly condition.
• Ensures that Environmental cart is not blocking any fire doors.
• Follow manufacturer guidelines when using chemicals.
• Ensures all chemicals are secured when leaving the area.
• Maintains cart in working order.
• Reports unsafe equipment and products to supervisor.
• Utilizes AIDET with each patient, visitor and staff encounter.
• Promotes and projects the hospitals service standards in their daily job tasks.
• Promotes a positive patient experience during all patient encounters.
• Demonstrate competencies related to the 7 step room cleaning procedure.

Minimum Qualifications

To qualify you must have a High school diploma or equivalency in order to follow written work assignments & maintain records
