Job summary

Signet Health is seeking an Environmental Services/Housekeeper for our Permian Basin Behavioral Health Center in Midland, Texas. This hourly role supports patient safety and clean, healthy environments by performing a variety of general cleaning tasks across patient rooms, offices, hallways and other areas.

Shifts may include day, evening or night hours and weekends/holidays to ensure continuous operation. Requires the ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for long periods; prior hospital

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED diploma required.
• Two plus years of related experience - preferably in a hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Perform general cleaning tasks to maintain patient rooms, offices, hallways and other areas.
• Collect dirty linens and operate industrial washer/dryer following hospital standards.
• Operate environmental service equipment such as floor cleaners, buffers, vacuums, and related machinery.
• Wet-mop rooms and halls; shampoo rugs and furniture as needed.
• Clean vents, fixtures, top of windows and other high areas using ladders.
• Assist with evacuations and provide support for isolation procedures in isolation rooms.

Signet Health is hiring for Environmental Services/Housekeepers for our program at Permian Basin Behavioral Health Center, Midland Texas.

This is an hourly position. Days and hours of work may vary and will include weekends and/or holidays. May involve day, evening and/or night shifts to assure the continuous, and safe, operation of the hospital. Overtime is not scheduled but may occur. As a general rule, schedule will reflect coverage to include full seven-day schedule.

May involve prolonged standing with frequent bending, stooping, and reaching over the head. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. Pushing and pulling heavy objects weighing 75 lbs. May be subjected to extreme temperature changes when working inside and outside of the building environment. Sufficient emotional maturity to accept adverse comments and criticism while working and respond in a positive manner.

The Environmental Service Worker maintains environmental and infection control standards within the facility. The position performs a variety of general cleaning tasks to maintain patient rooms, offices, hallways and other assigned areas of the facility.

• Collects dirty linens from units; uses industrial washer and dryer to wash hospital linens according to hospital standards.


• Operates mechanical floor cleaners, buffers, vacuums, snow blowers, shampooers and related environmental service equipment.


• Wet-mops rooms, halls and other areas; shampoos rugs and furniture.


• Cleans vents, fan fixtures, top of windows, doorframes and other high areas using a ladder.


• Moves furniture and other heavy objects as required.


• Performs terminal cleaning procedures of patient rooms and prepares rooms for new occupants; follows isolation procedures in isolation rooms.


• Makes supply packs for departments and puts linen stacks in carts for distribution.


• Keeps records of linen distribution by department; checks floor linens supplies and lists linen use by department.


• Shovels snow at all exits and ramps.


• Assists with evacuations when needed.

Preferred Education and Experience

• High school diploma or GED diploma.


• Two plus years of related experience - preferably in a hospital setting.
