Location: Portage Medical Center in Ravenna, OH

University Hospitals is offering a $1,000 sign-on bonus, minus applicable taxes, for full-time environmental service workers hired externally.

A Brief Overview

The Environmental Services Worker may work in any location on the client premises. The general responsibilities of the position include those listed below, but the department may identify other responsibilities. These may differ among locations, depending on business needs and client requirements.

What You Will Do

1. Perform Environmental Services duties efficiently, completing all steps in the 7 Step Cleaning Process.
2. Maintain cleanliness standards to ensure a clean and comfortable environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
3. Keep cleaning cart, equipment hopper room, and trash-room organized, with all materials properly labeled.
4. Engage positively with patients, families, visitors, and employees verbally and non-verbally.
5. Assist individuals as needed or direct them to the appropriate personnel.
6. Use cleaning chemicals safely and according to manufacturer standards.
7. Clean offices, patient/resident rooms, classrooms, common areas, restrooms, halls, food service areas, and other designated areas.
8. Sweep, mop, and vacuum hallways, stairs, and office spaces.
9. Clean fixtures, ceilings, vents, walls, mattresses, furniture, windows, and coverings.
10. Empty trash and garbage containers, transporting waste with sealed lids to outside compactor as needed.
11. Replenish supplies and materials.
12. Move furniture and set up tables and chairs.
13. Report maintenance needs to supervisors.
14. Follow safety and risk management policies and procedures.
15. Report accidents and injuries promptly.
16. Participate in safety meetings, training, and hazard assessments.
17. Apply OSHA and local safety standards to all work.
18. Attend and complete required training programs.
19. May transport and package regulated medical waste and chemo waste.
20. May change cubicle and shower curtains.

Additional Responsibilities

• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Follow all policies and standards.
• Refer to departmental documentation during orientation for specific duties.
• Maintain confidentiality and security of Protected Health Information (PHI), adhering to all related policies and training.
