ESSENTIAL TASKS:

1. Operation of the Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP)

• Backup Operator in Responsible Charge (BORC) – This state-required position, due to the Monroe facility's NPDES and Pretreatment permits, must be licensed through North Carolina.

Analytical Sampling - Collect samples as required by the Pretreatment permit and perform analysis for daily in-house monitoring.

Treatment Chemical Management - Monitor and add chemicals to treatment storage tanks as necessary.

Used Oil Treatment and Recycling - Treat used oil and coolants using various technologies from Monroe & Bakers plants.

Maintenance – Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on the WWTP equipment.

On Call – The Lead Environmental Technician or Environmental Technician are on call 24/7, including weekends and holidays.

Cooling Towers

Chemically treat weekly, check operation, and verify the primary make-up water source (city or pond).

Underground Storage Tank

Weekly checks of leak detection, cathodic protection, and interstitial piping, in accordance with regulations.

National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Permit

• Record daily pond discharge.
• Maintain the oil skimmer and logs per permit requirements.

Spill Prevention, Containment and Countermeasures Plan (SPCC Plan)

Weekly inspections of potential spill sources and record keeping.

Universal Wastes

Collect and package fluorescent bulbs, mercury switches, and Ni-Ca batteries.

Pond Water Cooling System

Operate and maintain pumps, filters, valves, piping, and controls (excluding plant piping).

Hazardous, Special Industrial, and General Wastes

Proper handling, storage, and disposal at the Monroe Plant.

Qualifications:
