Job summary

Chestnut Hill Rehabilitation and Healthcare is seeking an experienced Director of Environmental Services to lead and oversee the environmental department within a healthcare setting. The role requires coordinating with other departments, ensuring regulatory compliance, and maintaining facilities standards.

The position is full-time, on-site, with a work schedule from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in a health care setting.
• Valid Pennsylvania driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and direct the environmental department under administrator oversight.
• Assist in planning, organizing, implementing, evaluating and maintaining environmental services.
• Coordinate environmental services with related departments.
• Inspect storage rooms, linen rooms, closets, utilities and janitorial areas.
• Review department policies and procedures annually and update as needed.
• Participate in facilities surveys and inspections and address deficiencies as directed.
• Perform administrative duties and report to the administrator.
• Delegate authority to a manager when absent.
• Ensure proper staffing aligned with budget projections.
• Serve on committees and provide written and oral reports.
• Participate in Quality Assurance programs and staff evaluations.
• Follow facilities handbook and established managerial conduct.

Position Summary:

Supervise, coordinate, and perform office functions under the direction of the Administrator in accordance with State, Federal and Company policies, procedures and sound accounting practices; demonstrate knowledge and skills in filing systems, telephone techniques, typing reports and other correspondence; effective verbal and written English communication skills; above average typing and basic understanding of computer technology; must be able to relate positively and favorably to residents, families and to work cooperatively with others; maintain regular attendance; must meet all local health regulations and submit to and meet drug screening, criminal background investigation and reference inquiry criteria; must be able to lift and carry items up to 30 pounds.

Qualifications of Maintenance Director:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous work experience in a health care setting.
• Valid Pennsylvania driver’s license.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

• Assume administrative authority, responsibility and accountability for supervising and directing environmental department.
• Assist in planning and developing organizing implementing evaluating and maintaining environmental services.
• Coordinate environmental services and activities with other related departments.
• Inspect maintain storage rooms linen rooms and closets utilities and janitorial areas.
• Review department policies and procedure manual, job descriptions etc. at least annually.
• Participate and prepare for the facilities surveys/inspections.
• During a plan of correction noted, correct all deficiencies to the administrators direction.
• Preform administrative duties such as completing necessary reports evaluation studies etc. and report to the administrator.
• Delegate a responsible manager to act in your behalf when you are absent from the facility.
• Responsibility of proper staffing according to the need which is developed by the budget.
• Serve in various committees and provide written and oral reports.
• Participate in Quality Assurance programs.
• Participate in staff evaluations and document.
• Follow the standard managerial rules of conducts set forth on behalf of the facilities handbook.
